Samantha Palmer in 2017

In the final report for this year, 2017 has been a busy one for Samantha and Clyde with lots of Show Jumping and Eventing competitions and lessons.  Sam reports that Clyde’s dressage performance is improving with every week as they attend lessons with Christine Sievers and she is confident that this will translate into wins on the scoreboard in 2018.  She notes that Clyde’s Cross Country and  Show Jumping at preliminary level is proving to be “a walk in the park” with Clyde already looking for some bigger fences.

Reviewing the year, Sam lists among her highlights stepping up to 105cm Show Jumping at the Australian Show Jumping Championships along with winning the Dunolly HAC Horse Trials earlier in the year.  With Clyde and Sam now on holidays, she is looking forward to preparing for another exciting year in the 2018 season and coming back in February to win some more ribbons!  Once again thank you Sam for being such a great ambassador for our business and products, we appreciate you representing us at events you attended throughout the year and wish you a wonderful Christmas.

Sam and Clyde attended the prestigious Australian Showjumping Championships at WerribeePark on the weekend of 16 & 17 September 2017.  Sam reports that they competed in the 1.00m and 1.04m classes, having one rail in each class, an impressive effort for a new competition height.  On the Sunday, Clyde participated in the novelty jockey challenge, but he was a bit frisky and neither jockey nor Clyde performed to their best.

Samantha held a Freshman Day on Saturday 12th August 2017 at Manderang South Pony Club as part of the club she started, Central Victorian Show Jumping Club.  It was well attended and we drove out to see her and Clyde in action too on a beautiful sunny afternoon.  A few riders went home with bags of FSF Horse Muesli and a bag of Combo Chaff.  Well done to Sam for organising such a great event and cheers to her parents Veronica and Lincoln for their support on the day too.

Samantha and Clyde competed at the Neanger Park Dressage Jackpot on Sunday 30th July 2017.  She felt that neither test was Clyde’s best efforts however they still managed to place 5th in one and 3rd in the other to come out 5th overall!  Well done Sam and Clyde.

Samantha and handsome Clyde came out over-all winners at the Dunolly HRCAV Trials in Level 2 on the weekend of May 6-7 2017!  Dressage produced mixed results for Sam coming in 2nd place, 8 points behind the winner, but true to Clyde’s form – Cross Country was sensational with a clear round, and 2 rails down in show jumping.

Samantha’s instructors have confidence that Sam and  Clyde have the ability to make it all the way to 3* eventing and she has a number of events and clinics booked in for the year ahead.  Samantha is very proud and excited to be part of the Victorian Eventing Squad meeting every two months at Werribee Park.

Stay tuned for updates on events where Sam and Clyde will be competing so that you can talk to her about her endeavours and Freemantle Stock Feeds products.
